United Nations (UN) Turns to Blockchain to Further Sustainable Urban Development in Afghanistan

According to a news published by a technology news outlet The Sociable on July 2, the United Nations (UN) is working on Blockchain solutions to further sustainable urban development in Afghanistan.
In an interview with The Sociable, Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for the UN Secretary General, said that the United Nations Office of Communication and Information Technologies (UN-OICT) is in the process of developing Blockchain solutions for land records and services transparency that are both part of the United Nations’ sustainable development plan for countries.
This new move by the United Nations to implement Blockchain in its humanitarian projects is the result of an agreement between the United Nations Office of Communication and Information Technologies and the United Nations Habitat.
According to this agreement, these two departments of the United Nations have agreed to work together to increase collaborations in the area of South Asia and to work on developing tools in the field of new technologies like the Blockchain for sustainable urban development and planning.
According to a report by the Cointelegraph published in December 2018, the United Nations has previously used the Blockchain technology in areas such as health services in East Africa and to launch a Blockchain-based credit bureau in Sierra Leone.
